Profile:

Mr. Luis M. Nolla-Vilá is a transactional attorney in the Firm’s Corporate & Real Estate Department. He is also a Shareholder and has recently acted as the Firm’s Managing Director. Mr. Nolla-Vilá is also a member of the Firm’s Senior Leadership Committee, and Strategic Planning Committee.

During his career, Mr. Nolla-Vilá has represented both lenders and borrowers in a myriad of complex commercial, corporate, and construction lending transactions, responsible for the drafting and preparation of loan agreements, promissory notes, security agreements, mortgages, and other ancillary documentation. He has also participated as counsel for financial institutions in the purchase and sale of mortgage loan portfolios in the secondary mortgage loan market.

In addition, Mr. Nolla-Vilá is also experienced in complex corporate/partnership reorganizations and has represented both sellers and purchasers in multiple transactions involving the acquisition and sale of assets and stock.  He has acted as lead counsel, representing local and stateside clients, in various commercial and residential real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and general notary law. Also, Mr. Nolla-Vilá has represented developers and owners in government procurement, entitlements, and financing for residential, commercial, and office developments.

Recently, Mr. Nolla-Vilá has represented lending institutions in commercial and construction loan work-outs, responsible for drafting and preparing forbearance agreements, friendly foreclosure agreements, judicial sales, and warranty deeds. He also supervises the Department’s Collections and Foreclosure Division.

Prior to joining the Firm in 2000, Mr. Nolla-Vilá started his career at the San Juan law firm Dubón & Dubón where he was exposed to and participated actively in virtually every type of commercial, marine, and residential lending transaction. Since 1994, he has been a Director and Legal Counsel of the “Jose Jaime Pierluisi Foundation” a non-profit organization dedicated to awarding grants and financial aid to post-graduate and university students in Puerto Rico and the States.
