Profile:

Mr. Reinaldo L. Maldonado-Vélez is a trial attorney concentrating in labor and employment law who is a Non-Equity Partner and Sub-Director of the Firm’s Labor and Employment Department. He is also a member of the Firm’s Strategic Planning Committee.

During his career, Mr. Maldonado-Vélez has provided employers, both in the public and private sector, with keen advice in all manner regarding human resources and labor matters. In particular, he has assisted clients in personnel transactions and job terminations, queries and claims, collective bargaining, development of employment policies and procedures, risk assessments, discrimination investigations and training management to better perform supervisory duties.  Also, he has represented employers in all sorts of labor and employment claims before administrative and judicial forums at the local, state, and federal levels.

In addition, Mr. Maldonado-Vélez also has experience in various civil law matters, including, family law, contracts, and taxes.

Before joining the Firm in the fall of 2009, Mr. Maldonado-Vélez was a Partner in the San Juan boutique law firm of Rodriguez & Maldonado, PSC, concentrating in labor and employment law matters. In 2002, he was appointed Director of Legal Affairs and Human Resources Office of the Commonwealth’s Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and in 2004 was also named Director to the Commonwealth’s Labor Relations Board, serving in such capacity until the winter of 2009.
